Bit O/T but have you considered upgrading to Sky+ ?
They've removed the 10 quid monthly sub from 01/10 and reduced the one-off price to 199.
Still have to pay the extra 15 quid (?) monthly sub to use your existing box if you want to watch the basic pack independently upstairs. Or cable other rooms and used the RF out (costs bugger all).
Not at all sure about lining their pockets but no-one else provides the same service (I think).

I actually work for a company who are part of Sky, we have one of EVERY model EVER released for application test purposes.
Boxes vary slightly, but the newer boxes are significantly faster than some of the old ones ie early Pace numbers. However youll only notice the difference when you use red button interactive apps - the load time can vary a lot here.
You dont state the model numbers, Sony only made 1 so I know what that is, nice looking box and has an optical output (think its the only one ever) its also slim line and fits in a seperates rack nicely, that would be my choice

Wonder if anyone knows the answer??
Will a 'digibox' receive the 'free to view channels' if the card is removed??
..........or is something else required?
I was wondering whether it was worth picking up one of the digi boxes from the FS forum for freeview???
Cheers

It will recieve unencrypted free to air channels- ie all the BBC 1,2,3,4 + News 24 including the regional variation. Also TCM, The Vault, Reality TV, Motors and various other news channels as well as a whole bunch of amusing shopping channels. What you won't get without a card is ITV, CH4, CH5 as they are all behind encryption.
