There was a programme the other night on it - The Dark Side of Stage Hypnotism or summin like that. Bit freaky. Certainly pi55ed on Paul McKenna's (sp) chips. Wondered if anyone here had any experience of it...

A housemate at university has been hypnotised on stage. It utterly freaked him out and left him very untrusting and nervous for about three months.
I wouldn't recommend it.

I know of a old School friend of mine that worked with a Stage hypnosis bloke for a year. She went a bit loopy in the end and needed medication. She had been hypnotised one night and freaked out. I dont know what shes up to now.

Gave the hypnotist a go once at a ball in Durham Uni 92 - was a bit p*ssed so not sure if it was me acting up or what, but he made me play a trombone whilst riding a horse backwards and made the audience laugh. I don't honestly think it is anything other than powerful suggestion, rather than some silly mind game hence those of a weak mind will be led - not an unusual thing in business or any other way of life...

I got hypnotised in the students uni about 11 or 12 years ago. Barry Sinclair or something like that.
Anyway - He got me to lie face down across 5 chairs. Only my fingers and toes were touching the end chairs. Then he got three of my mates to stand on me.
He told me he was going to take the middle chairs away and that I would be fine and not collapse or get tired. He took the chairs away and my mates stood there on my back while I held myself completely horizontal with just fingertips and toes.
I can remember all of this.
After that he put us to 'sleep' which is like dreaming. (When you wake up you think you can remember what happened, but as you think about it it seems to fade) I missed this bit, but I can remember the rest.
After I left the students union I called at every house on the way home (2.00am) to show them my pet Leprichaun. Then at about 11.50 next day I remembered that I had to post it back home (to the end of the rainbow) I took it to the post office for 12.00 and I was trying to explain to the girl behind the counter when the little feker disappeared completely.
To this day, I can vividly remember having the leprichaun. If I didn't know I had been hypnotised the night before I would still swear that it was real.
Gave everyone a massive laugh at the time, and didn't suffer any ill effects
