leaving army best way to spend my money on a job

HGV and tail lift/multi-drop always seem to be in demand not sure how much it pays though

im leaving the army soon and cause ive been in over 5 years i get this thing called resettlement money.i hopefully have a job lined up but its a rotor 4 days on-off so that leaves me with 4 days to earn extra wedge.now the army give £534 plus accomodation to do a course but im stuck between 2 what would benefit me most.
ok to my advantadge i have hgv class 1&2 and adr haz mat
so
heavy plant, diggers,fork lifts,cranes,hiabs etc
or
locksmithing
the heavy plant takes all my money and more which i can afford to put a little awards,but the locksmithing i can afford with the army money.
im thinking of doing the heavy plant which is £2600 and i pay about £200 out of my money then going on the locksmithing course which is £700 out of my money.
end of the day which one will earn me the most and has the most jobs available.

Depends on your location.
Is there a locksmith already established in your area ?
Casual HGV drivers are always in demand to cover Hols etc but work may be unreliable.
I'd go for the one that you are most interested in.
It's hard work getting up in the morning to do a job you hate !

there is chris but its 5 years to become totally and officially qualified as you can imagine i dont have that time plus you have to be an apprentice and work for peanuts.
both of these jobs interest me cause there different.
there are a few locksmith companys around here but about 4 miles away theres a construction with all the cranes and dumpers there so there in supply at the minute.
trust me i wake up everyday to a job i hate me every morning

My brother-in-law got out of the Army several years ago (my sister is still in). Before he got out he did every driving course he could, even though he already had HGV and haz mat.
He now drives for the Army as a civiie contractor. This actually works out as permmie work, well has done for the past three years or so. He drives when he wants and the pay is very good. Drives quality civvie HGVs with civvie looks but moves Army gear about. He loves it.

Dad is doing holiday cover HGV driving at the moment. He's not doing badly... Obviously, it gets a bit lean around Oct/Nov and Jan/Feb, however with careful planning it's not a problem.
I hear that class 1 (or whatever the hell it is now ) drivers are in demand at the moment, and as such, there's a good hourly rate. Any extra skills (hiab, hazards etc.) would obviously make you more employable. Suppose it depends how much you enjoy driving.
Dad's wife's son passed his class 1 at 21 (I think) and within 48 hours he had 2 permanant job offers!

3. get a decent trade (and theres feckin loads of em)

I would do heavy plant.
But the remuster with the Meccano boys aint a bad idea. Do sparky's and get paid to be trained.
I got out on a sick note after 13 years and used my payout for naff all, some I spent on booze, women and fast cars and some I just frittered away on a deposit for a house
