Wanted one for a while and will finally be in a position to get one at the start of 2004. Anyone got one of these and offer any advice? Specifically:
a) Do they have special dietary requirements
b) Do you have to keep it indoors all the time (other than to stop your expensive cat going missing)?
c) Are they better on their own or in pairs?
d) Are particular breeds easier to look after?
e) Anything else of any relevance you can think of
Thanks,
Simon.

£350 is the sort of price you are looking at for a well breed one.
Apart from that they are just cats but are maybe a little more affectionate/clingy than moggies. Many bengals are also water lovers (unlike moggies) and will try to play with running water, will stand in shallow water etc.
No, haven't got one, but we looked into it last year after our last one died of old age.
Cheers

Cheers Ian. Have found some good breeders. Need to get out and see a few before we decide. Seems you can feed them on premium canned and dried food.

How the hell did he manage to sell them for £35k and above if you can get them for £350???
I watched the program and he was a loon, made a shed load of money though.
Surely a Bengal cat is a Bengal cat and there are no different varities/purities. £350 or £35k-£75k, bit of a difference!

IIRC it is something to do with the number of generations between the original wild cat and your kitten.
For a kitten of very high quality / special markings that is suitable for breeding (a lot of infertility in these cats) can cost thousands. However, one that is suitable for just being a pet and may not have absolutely perfect markings etc. are selling for around £350.
£350 is a lot of money for a cat in my eyes but they are beautiful animals and the ones we saw all had great personalities.
I think we decided not to bother in the end, mainly as the missus was still upset from the death of our last cat. We will probably just end up getting a rescue cat in the end.
Cheers

Yeah Ian is spot on. They are termed F1, F2 F3 & F4 indicating how many generations they are since the original cross breed. For pets they recommend F4 as it will have the best features.
Ones that have blemishes and arent good enough for shows will be used for pets as the owners wont even notice the faults with them i.e. not as shiny coat. The price depends on what breed you go for and what breeder you buy from.

Ian, if you fancy something a bit cheaper but different to the usual pet moggy, then look at british silver tabbys. Check out how cute:

35 grand for a Cat, bloody hell thats mental, you would have to get cat insurance for 35 grand, try explaining that one when you make a claim, it would need to be comprehensive or minimally

My sisters got one, He was a rescue cat, a bit of a nutter - you have to watch your ankles when he's around, otherwise he's very affectionate. Got tiger stripes on his back
