Hello

Does anyone know why you can't buy beer in 2 litre (or more!) containers?

If you are having a party, it would stop the faffing about with cans or little 330ml bottles and must be cheaper?

Steve.

You can get a keg and tap from some places and set up a pub stylee bar. can be a bit of a faff though - if you get the amount of gas wrong you end up drinking pure froth.

other than that, you used to be able to get 5 litre party kegs of Dab. they came with thier own tap, or you could stab it with a nail and go for the shotgun effect

1.5 Litre schwing-top bottles of Grolsch are readily available at all good off-licences, and supermarkets.

Many of the microbreweries here in the US sell their beer in refillable 1/2-gallon bottles called "growlers". It's fun to take two down to the pub, have a few beers, than have them fill the growlers - lets you take the brewery home with you.

you'd be amazed how quickly you can get through a 50 litre barrel from your local brewery. Took me a week (with a little help from my friends)

Cool

Aren't Fosters thinking of doing a refillable keg jobby that hold approx 35 pints and is self-cooling if you add water to the jacket around it? (chemical reaction chills it) - it was advertised in the paper by Phil Tufnell (wonder why? )

AC - I once nearly got a half barrel or real ale (proper stuff) but realised it'd probably go off before I got through it

As mentioned above the stella mini kegs, dont bother with them though, they are crap. 90% froth even when stored and poured correctly.

Hello

Thank you for your replies. I still think there is a market for 2 litre plastic bottles of Fosters (or some other low-alcohol beer).

The beer shouldn't loose it's "fizz" if consumed within a day or so.

I'm off to write to the breweries .. !

Hello

Well, since I got into wireless internet connections then, yes, the park bench is my friend.

The bottle idea is really for parties.
