So if anyones got anything they think may get them into trouble on their PC just let others have access to it. You'll get away with it then.

And if he is totally innocent then why will he stay suspended until an internal investigation is complete.

Baffles me.

Chip.

In September 2002, police searched Mr Stevens' house as part of Operation Ore - the nationwide clampdown on internet paedophiles - and found a laptop computer which they said contained 12 indecent pictures of children.

His career, reputation and his life in general have potentially been destroyed by this prosecution

However, he always denied he had exclusive access to that laptop and the prosecution could not provide evidence to back its case.

Sounds well iffy to me!

To be found guilty in a criminal court, you have to prove the case "beyond all reasonable doubt".... which means that if there is the slightest chance that he didn't do it, then its enough to get them off.

To be found guilty in an internal police investigation, then all you have to prove is the "balance of probabilities"... which is less burden of proof on the prosecutors.

Just thought I'd clear that up.

So he's officialy innocent. That said we can hold a straw poll here based on the balance of probability. Personally I think he's guilty as hell and getting off on a technicality hardly proves he's innocent.

Mud sticks and I'm sure his career is now fcuked.

Maybe so, but hopefully now people can see why a lot of police officers get so frustrated when people get off on these "technicalities".
