Question

Anyone ever been?
i'm thinking about it for late October this year and would appreciate any hints.

Yes. Incredible experience. There are numerous opportunities to buy food & drink at the various stops along the way, but it's still best to take plenty of your own supplies as back-up. Some dull times, especially the first couple of days out of Moscow, but take that time to meet people and make new friends. It's one of the few adventures left.
