Im on the Atkins diet at the moment and I am going out at the weekend. What drinks are okay on the diet - I think Vodka is okay, but not sure about anything else. Also, can you have things with them - like Vodka and Orange? Manly I know!!

you can have limited vodka with tonic water on the atkins diet.

but in all honesty...its better not to bother for all the good one drink will do you!!

just stick to water mate. theres no way you can get drunk whilst in this diet. save your money!

Alcohol slows down the fat burning process but isn't full of carbs.

I lost nearly two stone on Atkins and still had a few beers.

A weekend on the lash won't do too much harm, just stay away from the kebab and chips!!

gin, vodka with diet tonic is fine - virtually carb-free. White wine is 3g of carbs per 3 fl oz, red wine is 4g.

vodka (& diet coke), vodka (& diet tonic)
gin (& diet) tonic

My other half seems to have vodka lime and soda. The lime and soda are allowed by Atkins, the vodka as stated ab ove is OK but slows down weight loss.

Talking

Been on it 7 weeks now, no side affects at all feeling better than I ever have. Lost 2 ½ stone now and still going, aiming for another stone then I will slowly phase out the Atkins and phase in a normal healthy diet, hopefully it will stay off. BTW I have only had 1 beer since I started Atkins, I decided to treat myself to a pint of Fosters at the British GP the other week.

Thumbs up

I've been on it 6 weeks now and al I can say is, "Fookin brilliant!"

Lost 2.5st and going for another 2 before reintroducing carbs. Laid off heavy exercise as energy (sugar) runs out quick, but did Robin Hoods Bay to Whitby coastal walk today (Grand Turk followed us all way ) about 6 miles in 2hrs (stompin) and energy was fine.
Getting a bit fed up with broccolli and cauliflour, must eat more tomato. I never feel hungry and only eat because I know I should and even eating out is a doddle. Best diet ever.
I get fed up with ignorant tw@ts who've not read the book (or are too thick to understand and apply the knowlege) griping about it "being unhealthy" and "how can you only eat meat", I've never eaten as much green veg and I eat no more meat than I ever have.
Good luck to all those doing it, not that you need luck.

Im taking a multivitamin tablet every day, and some fibre pills. Touch wood its going good. I started Monday weighing 14 stone 12lbs, and today I weighed 14 stone 7lbs - I'll be well chuffed if it keeps going anything like this. I felt a bit tired on Tuesday and had a bit of a thick head, so I took an aspirin and felt fine an hour later. Im finding if I go to bed 45 minutes to an hour earlier I go straight to sleep and that helps me to stop feeling tired during the day.

Well i'm about to start this diet and will be planning it out for approx 8wks.
I used to swim at a national level but had an unfor4tunate accident a few years ago and broke my back. I'm now fighting fit again but a tad flabby due to the back brace. I swim everyday for approx 1hr and am trying to eat as healthily as possible but still seem unable to actually lose the flab. I hope this diet will help me.

If anyone who's done it has got any good advice for me then i'd be most interested to hear.

Thanks

James

RS2JIM, sorry to hear about your accident and welcome to the Scoobyneters Atlins Collective, LOL.
A couple of tips,
Asda Gluten Free Pork & Onion sausages or Turkey sausages = 1g carb
French's Classic Yellow Mustard = 0.9% carb
Yorkshire Dales Natural Ice Cream = 8.9% carb, an occasional & naughty treat
Make your own curries with fresh cream & spices, if you ain't got a clue about spices, Asda do jars premixed for several types.

Good luck.

Thanks for that Corradoboy. I'll be making a reconnaisance mission to Asda and Sainsbury's tonight to see what's on offer.

The diet starts monday!
