Did the Sydney Harbour Bridge clim last night, absolutely awesome and even managed to spot a few Rex's as they call them over here, whilst i was up there.
If anyone goes down under for a holiday, to live etc, I would highly recommend doing the climb, the views of Sydney are just out of this world, not literally of course
Paul Palmer, beer next week when i am back in the UK ??
Cheers

I've done it - its fantastic!
You have to pass a breath test before they let you go up!
You cannot take any loose objects up with you, however they do take pics of the group (about 12 in a group IIRC) which you can purchase.

Puff, you can't take a camera up there unfortunately. You have to have a photo taken by their photographer - not sure how good it is, I am sure jim will say.
Jim, if you get access and read this, then if you want to meet up this or next week, give me a shout via my profile addy and I will give you my mobile number.
Might do the Harbour Bridge climb tomorrow, but only because my brother has no one else to do it with - I really don't want to. <cries like baby > I am scared of heights and deep water......

Good on yer, mate !
Ooops Sorry, that Kiwi, not Aussie.
I was quite tempted when we were over there, but only did the 'pylon' climb.
The real Bridge Climb looks awesome.
Considered trying it here in Auckland, but it rains too much !!

Oh, and the mesh walkways that you can see through down to the road below... aaaghh !!
360 degree view is wonderful from the top.. can see everything !!
top class !!!

Jerry,
You've just put more reasoning for me not to do it!!!! The bridge actually shakes??????
If I have to do it then I will be looking at train timetables and trying to make sure I get up and down without a train going past.
Mesh walkways??? They aren't solid???
I can see me doing this with my eyes shut, knuckles bleeding from gripping so tightly and vomiting from the dizziness.
<gulp>

Hi all
got the piccies on a CD from my company, so will post them when i get back to the UK, my laptop does not have an internal CD, because i am lazy and wanted the lightest thing avail so cannot post them yet. The bridge climb people take the pictures with very high res digital cameras and the quality is very good, however they ain't cheap but then again nor is the climb, 175 ozzie bucks, but still worth every cent
Miss WRX, do the twilight climb, both day and night views of Sydney are just great.. afraid i will not have the chance to meet up, got company dinners, barbie with my mate and then flying back to blighty (applying for citizenship though, so might be down permanently within the year)
The whole climb takes 3 hours including ground prep and yep you get to blow in the bag, bridge shakes, rattles but not rolls, and i would say lower walk ways are more hairier than the actual big climb to the top.. Watch here for some piccies next week
Paul, i tried texting you and calling you for about 1.5 hours when i was at the medmenham, but could not get hold of you, promise to let you buy me a beer next week, even if its on the weekend
Cheers
Jim

Jim,
Never mind, maybe when you next come over then.....good luck with the citizenship, I thought you had to do so many years as a permanent resident before doing that?
I found out how much it is $175 for twighlight and $145 for day or night climbs.
I stood looking up wondering whether I could actually do it......my brother will be pretty pi55ed off at me if I don't.
BTW, have you or are you going to do a copter flight? You can take a video camera and your own camera up there.

Did this last year whilst over in Aus watchin the ashes.
Chelle, you've GOT to do it. something that will live with me for the rest of my life. Makes me smile now when I see the bridge on telly and I think to myself "i,ve stood on top of that!!"
AWSOME - JUST DO IT!!!

Michelle, afraid i do not have time for the copter working in the office for the rest of the week (and the big boss from the states is over)so no skiving off, i will be flying out the weekend. I sas on holiday in the whitsundays for 3 weeks though before flying down to Sydney, absolutely magical place, have you been ????, and if not, WHY NOT
Just applying for residency (thats what i meant really), but waiting for ACS to do my assessment for migration, they have had this about 4 weeks, so I expect an answer in the next 4-6 weeks.
If i am successful, hope to get out to OZ within the next 9-12 months, assuming i can find a job, however IT market is not actually bouyant at the moment.
Paul, my mobile seems averse to receiving text messages, still waiting for one my missus sent 9 months ago, must be stuck in buffer somewhere the text, not the wife.
Cheers

Aw.... memories!! I lived in Sydney for 10 months, and worked right under the bridge on the city side - The Mercantile Hotel - a mental Irish pub! Anybody had a drink there?!? The bridge is certainly a superb land mark! I remember the fireworks on NYE 1995!

Did the Bridge Climb in 1998 and loved it so much that I did it again last year when I went down for the Ashes
Awesome is all I can say...definitely worth doing if you get the chance
You get a group pic included in the price but have to pay extra for individual pics...and you get to wear lovely grey jumpsuits!

I did kinda climb the bridge - I made it to the top of one of the turrets anyhow.
I noticed a couple of the climbers had video-cameras..........does this mean if you slip a big enough bung you can take one up with you?

I did this at the start of the year and it was one of the highlights of my trip to Oz. I get dizzy sometimes at height but was so taken back by the views and stuff I forgot all about it.
Definitely worth doing, dont think you can take anything with you, we had to empty out pockets so doubt they'll let you take a camera up with you!
And those 2 ozzie flags flying from the top sure look bigger when your stood next to them!
Ben
