No wonder I'm always skint, £170 spent in supermarkets in the last fortnight, and probably only a couple of 'real' meals
Is this an unusual amount for two people to spend?
/me puts his fillet steak and king prawns back on shelf

Buy all the big stuff at somewhere like Costco or Makro, i.e. bog roll, washing powder, olive oil etc. then you don't have to spend as much in the supermarket. I rarely spend over £50 a week for 2 of us.

We budget on 100 for the weekly shop for me the missus and three kids, the kids are getting older and are costing more each week, not counting my Gin, Wine and Beer budget either.

I spend about 50 notes per week on food just for me.
I eat well, though and that doesn't include the odd sarnie I buy at work.
Plus, I get all my fresh fruit for nothing from work.

Spend about £20 every other week or so, if that...
When I used to live at home, mum would spend around £70 - £100 per week to feed 5 of us, with packed lunches to go to school.
Salad and fresh stuff is cheaper at farmer's markets or town markets and more often than not, better quality too...
When living with my fiance a few years back, we weren't exactly flush, so used to go the market in the town centre about an hour before it closed. Market traders are often eager to get rid of produce rather than packing it back up, so 6lb of spuds for 50p became(maybe) 12lb for 50p, 1lb of plums for 30p became 2lb plums etc.
Iceland were better then too. Used to be able to spend around £25 on all the BOGOF offers and fill the freezer for a month. Now they've restricted it to 3 offers per customer...

Are you lot feeding half the street?
Circa £20 to £25 per week to look after me. I make my own lunch everyday during the week as well, so includes fresh bananas and apples.

I suppose when I say food I mean shopping, this covers everything including, toiletries and wine etc , but I'm deffo going to have to find ways to reduce the cost somehow. I'm amazed (assured? ) that some of you can eat cheaply. I guess items such as fresh fish (I love tuna, swordfish steaks etc), fresh herbs, olive oil, avocados etc aren’t on the menu much. I wish I could face 'normal' food such as processed stuff but my guts would hate me.

Too much! One of life's indulgences to me, more in terms of quality than quantity. By shopping around, using farm shops and so on, i guess i could get my basket cheaper, but for the convenience i don't bother.
