Am i banged to rights?

Oh dear.
On my journey home last night, nice Mr Plod pointed a radar speed gun thingamajig at me and Scoob. I had been stretching the car's legs so to speak and I guess the exhaust kinda gives advance notice of my arrival .
I think I saw them in time to scrub off most of the excess speed and they didn't step out to stop me but one of them was straight on to his radio. Was he just checking that the car was not stolen or was he getting my address so he can post me a lovely SP30?
Any of you chaps from five-0 tell me whether I'm in the clear, or am I up to my ankles in the brown stuff (whilst standing on my head)!?

No way of knowing, I'm afraid. You'll just have to sit tight and wait about 16 days before you'll know one way or another.
If you are to receive a NIP through the post, then they will have to post it to you within 14 days of the offence, so allow 16 days or so for it to arrive.
If the vehicle was a road safety van, then you will probably have been caught (assuming you were exceeding the speed limit by a margin greater than the ACPO guidelines -> 10%+2mph in general) The camera vans harvest speeders, for want of a better phrase. They process the drivers by post after the offence.
On the other hand, if the police officer was in a traffic car (or patrol car for that matter) then I would have expected them to follow you and process you there and then. Don't rule out the NIP in the post from them either, though.
In a nutshell, you'll have to wait until the statutory time expires before you can be sure.
Sorry I can't offer any more information for you.

Should just add that was slowing through about 35 in a 30 limit when the gun was levelled. And the police were standing at the roadside, no van seen.
Oh well, you live and learn.
Bye, bye clean licence.
I've had a good run I suppose. This is the first close call (or not) in 9 months of ownership. And I'm sure I could have amassed plenty of points by now if it wasn't for my own private road

It's likely you escaped but as Burr say's, it's a waiting game.
I was stopped yesterday coming back from Porthmadog.
He called me in as he pointed the gun, it was a stupid short stretch of 30 mph.
He told me had I been doing 1 mph faster then i'd have faced a ticket, had the van been there then i'd have definitely received a ticket.
Makes you think really that the van will just process them one after another but at least you have a chance with a one to one.
I guess I must have been doing 35 mph It get's worse.
Haven't spoken to a sensible officer for a long time, this guy who stopped me wins this months award and that's not just because I got off but that he used his common sense and could see I wasn't speeding, merely breaking the speed limit.
