OK ... what is Scooby In A Lake?
#1
I'm new around here what does "scooby in a lake" mean? Steal my dinner money, throw my trainers onto the railway line .. whatever ... just let me into the joke and let me be your mate. Please!

Basically, back in the mists of time somebody crashed a Scooby (Subaru Impreza, Subaru sounds like Scooby do, hence the Scooby bit) into a lake, cold frozen one at that and it was posted once and then again and then again, and on and on, the original thread was called 'Scooby in a lake' and thus it has passed into common parlence on Scoobynet that anything that has been posted before or is old news is a SIAL !
Anyway, I am off to buff my anorak buttons.

The Scooby in a lake (SIAL) was also a fake picture if you care to take notice of the registration its a MY97 *p* plate on a supposed MY2001 rally car....
also, the car would have sunk and not floated there...
good Photo-shopping methinks...
look in a search for sial and the pic will be there

Peanuts,
Although i'm prepared to be proved wrong, i've seen a whole sequence of photos of the infamous SIAL, some of which have the car being winched out. In anycase I think the SIAL came from scandiava not the UK, hence the difference in number plates.

For those who are getting a SIAL over the SIAL photo. Here's some less SIAL'd SIAL's
It happened on Jan.27, 2002 near the village Tarbja, on a small lake. There was an ice rally competition for enthusiasts on one part of the lake. This Subaru driver did not participate in
the competition, he just ignored rules and went for the quick round to unmarked ice. Unfortunately there was open water in that area of the lake in the morning and thin ice when it happened.
The Subaru was a brand new STi with approx 200km on the odo. The driver had crashed badly his last year edition WRX twice and he had just received this STi the day before. Fortunately the driver is a thin but tough man, so he has survived unharmed every time. This time he didn't even get wet.

Neil,
No my good man, it is I who has been proved wrong, from the original SIAL shot (not the less sial`d sials that you have now sial`d for anyone wishing to escape sial with they`re sial) the rear plate was yellow in appearence and took on a strangely uk appearence with a *P* prefix, upon closer inspection it is not the case and I feel correctly corrected...
thank you
