One of the lads @ work is just completing his PPL as he's looking at a career change.

Takes lots of time as you have to generate a huge amount of flying hours + lots of exams and test + lots of cash i.e. £10K - £15K to do it properly.

Any local airfield would point you in the right direction.

I think it costs him around £150 for an hours fly-time - hire of plne + instructors time and I'm sure he said you need around 100hrs to fully complete the PPL.

I did my first five lessons, before having to decide ...another car or the PPL ....the new car got the vote.

From waht i can remember ...40 hours ., gets you the basic license ..after the first 10 hours lesson time, you need to have a medical ..before going on to Landings n stuff.

After you get the basic license then its on to all the different ratings and building your hours up.

I was paying around £70 /hour ..but that was 10 years ago.

Best contact, a local flying school ..there are loads of them about ..most major, and smaller airports have them .....i did mine at Liverpool
