Had some X-rays taken and was told I would hear from the hospital what action they would take the following week.
Four weeks later on hearing nothing( nor had my GP) I phoned them to ask what was going on. Got no joy after speaking to 5 people so asked if I could be called back straight away when they knew what was happening.
Two days later I get a call saying my X-rays hadnt even been reviewed. When I stated it had been 4 weeks and was not happy I was told that the consultant had been on leave so no-one had reviewed my case.
Got a bit ****ty with them so now Im told they will review my case on Mon and post me and my GP the results.
This is just not good enough.Ive had 4 weeks of worry as the X-rays were to determine the cause of some internal bleeding.(wont go into details).
I thought Tony and his mob were making the NHS into a world class service. Not in my book their not.
Rant over.

Depends on the hospital/doctor.
I've been having treatment for the last 4 years and they could'nt be nicer or more efficient. Hospitals I use are in Fort William & Inverness.
Had to go to another hospital for specialist treatment. Could'nt have been more of a farce!
You pays your money - and don't have a choice
Or you could go private.
Alas

Went private to get a shoulder problem diagnosed ,got X-rays taken and looked at within one hour.BUT to have the operation privately is £4-5000 with no private insurance ,so I have to wait for the NHS 15 months!!

thats a sh**e service you got there. i work in radiography and thats a sh**e service you got there. occasionally things can slip through the net (we are only human) but if someone has been waiting that long the results should be faxed through within 24hrs (imo).
dont believe the hype about Tony Blairt fixing the NHS.
as someone who works in the NHS i ask you to write a letter of complaint to the Chairman of the Trust involved. otherwise they will just sit in their plush office thinking their hospital is wonderful and wonder how they can make more cost savings thus increasing their bonus.

I will be complaining but not until after I have heard.
Really hacked off today as had to return to hospital yesterday as I had more problems which I think should have been sorted by now.
Chip.

my girlfriends mum found some lumps when doing a routine breast examination a few weeks ago, she eventually went to the gp's last week.
he examined her and thought that it warranted a consultation with a breast specialist at our local hospital. the chances of it being malignant cancer are slim but none-the-less there is that chance .
The gp has informed her that she will have to wait around 3 months to even see someone for a proper diagnosis. If it is cancer, that's plenty of time for the tumour to become metastatic.
Luckily for her, she remembered after the trip to the docs that she's a member of BUPA through her works....she phoned the surgery....resulting in a private consultation with a breast specialist THIS THURSDAY.
So in other words, if you have money and are willing to pay for treatment, you get seen asap. But, if you rely on the NHS, which we pay for through NI, taxes, you may end up dead. Fantastic .
