Just watching the tv and they're showing the kids that spend their free time hanging around motorways and throwing bricks and glass bottles at the traffic. Where are the parents??!!?? Do they just not care or not know?
I don't have any kids but do you know where your children are when they go out?

I have two grown up kids now and I ALWAYS knew where they were at any time day or night why ? Because I cared.
I rest my case.

Kids today, I don't know. I do blame the parents, I really do. They can't know the difference between right and wrong. It's a sad fact.

i cannot believe parents cannot care for their kids well being.

while not being over protective of our son, we have still nutured him and brought him into this world, so he will "always" be our responsibility, regardless of his age.

why do parents stop caring!!!

GGrrrrrr. they do not deserve to have kids!!!!!

What do you mean kids of today ??

I remember doing this at least once when I was about 8 I'm now 33

My parents knew where I was at all times but they didn't know what I was up to.

And I knew right from wrong I just didn't take into account the consiquences of my actions which I believe is quite normal for an 8 year old.

It's just unbelievable

So we have the police saying that this has the potential to cause death or serious injury and on the other hand a legal system that says kids under 10 are immune from prosecution. WTF.. *someone* has to be responsible, and that someone is the parent. Maybe if they were made responsible *by law* for the unsupervised activities of their 'little angels' it would sharpen their *very* dull minds a bit.

There's always trouble round here, it's caused by kids from about 8-18, the parents go out to work, and half the kids don't even go to school, and then there's all the damage they cause to the play equipment in the playpark, they actually wreck the stuff that's put there for them to use, and then complain that they do it con there's nothing to do!!!
Maybe they should be made to replace the play equipment, or at least the parents should, heard about two lads the other day, who were chasing the shhep in a local field, and throwing what was basically a spear at them for fun!!! they'd have cacked themselves if they'd hit one!!
Lock the parent up, thats what I say!

Please see a couple of dozens posts I have made about falling parental standards.
I firmly believe that in the last 30 years there has been a marked decline in the standards of parenting in the UK. A huge shift in the social patterns of this country has occurred. I am 40 and was brought up to show respect and to have good manners becuase we had only an average life style, councill estate, one income etc., but both cost nothing to own and use. I brought up my children to the same standards but a big problem is that one (16) has followed his parents example and the other (18) has been corrupted by her peers. I got divorced 12 years ago but still maintained daily contact with them, some parents couldn't care less if they saw there kids once a week and they live with them.

I cannot believe that 8 year olds aren't able to see that throwing bricks at cars off a bridge won't cause any damage. Ive been in a car when people were tipping paint onto the cars on the motorway, if it had been something like bricks or bottles what do you do? if you swerve your likely to take out 5 other cars and if you drive on, you risk an end like that lorry driver who had heart failure when a brick went through his windscreen.

No an 8 year old know that it will cause damage but to an 8 year old it's causing damage to a car that's not linked to them, that they may not get in trouble for etc etc.

Some of you need to try to remember what it was like to be 8.

I agree that parental standards have dropped and that parentls should be held responsible but stop spouting the sactamonious(sp) crap.

I can gurantee that all of us have done something during our child hoods that our parents would have killed us for but we still did it.

Now before I get my arsed flamed I ask that people read what i have typed, I'm not condoning(sp) what happens and I agree that parents should be more accountable, for the childrens sake if nothing else but things need to be put in perspective.

I think its all about getting attention, the parents can't be ar$ed to be with them so the little cherubs go off and have some 'fun'.
