Choices for 6 grand(ish) Help !
#1
Currently looking at my options up to about six grand, dont want a Scoob or other rally rep anymore due to the running costs, general aggro associated with owning one plus I would spend every spare penny modding it and the budget wouldnt get a good one anyway. Have a Sharan for family duties and can get anything as long as it not a 2 seater, no preconceptions about anything really, not really bothered about fuel consumption as long as it does more than 20, must do 0-60 in 9 or less and handle reasonably well, dont want a Diesel. Want Aircon as well if possible
200 SX S14
Almera GTI
Prelude Vtec (Later shape)
Saxo VTS
Golf GTI MK3 16 valve (nice on for sale on here the other day, green one)
Golf MK3 VR6
Corrado VR6
Omega MV6 looks fun, 200 bhp, 30k for 3995, dont knock it ! Anyone ever driven one ?
Audi Coupe V6
Fiat Coupe 20VT (More aggro ?)
Pug 306 GTI6/Rallye
Any I have missed, need to avoid ?
Current faves are the Omega (daft as it sounds, the S14 and the Pug 306

Well, let's see.
Saxo VTS = I had one, was my first performace car and I still miss the little chappy, loved it to bits. Bascially same as Pug 106, though everyone reckons the pug is better handling, pah, whatever
Golf GTi Mk3, Brother has one of these and I've borrowed it quite a few times, actually put more miles on the clock than he has! I've taken it to a few scooby meets and have kinda managed to keep up with the chaps. It's a solid beasty and it took all the abuse I threw at it, which was a lot considering I had to keep reminiding myself a) it's not my car, b) it's not a 2.0l turbo. Great motor though, loved it.
What about a Ford Mondeo ST24? should be about 6k or less. I had one of these too, and yup, I loved it, really comfy and pretty good on the road too. If I'd not wanted, nay, needed the scooby, I'd prob still have it.
Omega MV6, I know what you mean, I was looking at one of those, there is something about them.

Hmmm, not too sure about the MK4 GTI, the N/A one is slow and the 1.8T isnt really any quicker than my MK2 8 valve (after numerous tries), have driven a few and they are not much fun (standard) plus my cash would only get me a very leggy one, they do look better than the MK3 though, MK3 can look ok but by and large they arent very attractive.
