I think we should bring back the stocks for crimes such as burglary, muggings etc make a lot more sense than prison or young offenders place

But seriously there are no deterrents these days to petty and minor crime. I can recall when we were kids a few of my mates felt more at content in the local borstals of Usk and Pucklechurch than in their real homes. When you have a regime and imposed rules to guide you the lack of parental control is not an issue.

These days, kids get threatened with a fortnight on safari and a karting project when they get back

My Dad just had to SHOW us his belt and we'd behave like likkle angels.
I for one would be at the front with my rotten tomatoes and bad eggs, always wondered what to do with them . Shame to just chuck them in the bin when they could be setting some n'er do well on the road to righteousness.

I've long been a supporter of bringing back the stocks. It's not cool to be put in a public space and have rotten veg and eggs thrown at you.

Agreed, they may come back from community service thinking they are double 'ard b@stards able to get away with whatever - 1 day or 1/2 day in the stocks being pelted with cr@p and verbally abused along with a picture in the local rag might well bring them down to earth!

Oh, i am sure the do-gooders will scream individuals rights being ignored but what about the rights of normal, decent people who are usually the victims of the scum.

Sod the stocks, bring back the death penalty.

Of course, it would have to be proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt that the person was guilty, can't have inoccent people doing the highburn jig now can we.

I think only the most extreme cases should warrant death, so that should clear out a few evil murders, rapists and peadophiles (anyone who says a pedo can be rehabilitated is a fool, they can't, you either cut off thier ***** and their hands and gouge out thier eyes, or you kill em, simple)

Make them drive around in Nissan Micras.. or for serious punishment toyota soarers - they would never re-offend.

If that's a bit harsh then make them walk around with a big sign around their neck with their crime written on it..
