Now this may seem like a silly question to most people but next week I am flying abroad for the first time by myself and although ive been through the airport before with other people doing all the hard work ive never actually taken note of what the check in procedure entails at Gatwick once you're in the front door. As i say this probably seems really simple to most people but i just want to make sure everything goes to plan!

Make sure you go to the correct terminal. There are a few of them there!
Just follow the signs and they'll point you to the right direction.
If you're collecting your ticket then find the relevant desk and give them your booking code. They will issue you your tickets.
Then just queue up in line for the desks of your operator. They will ask if you packed the case yourself ("Yes"), could anyoen else have interferred with it ("No") and has anyone asked you to carry anything for them ("No"). Sometimes at Gatwick they ask you if you have any tweezers, scissors, metal objects in hand luggage, depends on who the opertor is.
Once checked-in head for departure lounge where you can gaze longingly at Aston Martins, or a quick look at the Porsches and Merc which you can also try and win for about £70!
HTH. Out of curiosity, where are you going?

You'll need to show your passport to collect your boarding pass. Then your boarding pass to get to the gates. Then your passport and boarding card to get on the plane.
