Dawn of the Dead:Uncut on DVD
#1
Just watched this film. Have to say it makes the likes of Resident Evil look pathetic. George Romero spent just 1.5 million on it???
'Chaos vastly spreads across the country when the bodies of the recently dead awaken. As the number of the living dead multiplies to the thousands, a band of four-survivalist retreat, by helicopter, and manage to set down on the roof of a zombie infested shopping mall. They must now square off against these bloodthirsty zombies in order to return to their original way of life.'
The uncut has some great extra footage. Great for gore fans. Watch it at Night. --- www.dotd2001.com

creepy innit? have you seen the original night of the living dead (1967 i think)? so atmospheric, it makes your skin crawl.
romero was originally slated to direct resident evil (even going so far as to direct a wicked, ***** out two-minute trailer that was floating around the web about three years ago) with jason patric in the lead male role. game developers capcom didn't like the treatment - think they wanted a 15-certificate, soft-soap treatment to fit in with the game marketing - and nixed it and him. shame: would have been knockout IMO.

Yes Resident Evil just didn't have the eeriness etc. It was so hollywood! The Zombies just didn't have the creepiness/acting ability like in Dawn of the Dead etc.
The fools should have given the script to George Romero.
I have Night of the Living Dead too on DVD. Another classic. The 3rd sequel Day of the Dead isn't quite as good but still worth a watch.
I just loved the concept of Dawn of the Dead- trying to survive against the odds.
If it was me I'd get a huge convoy of Scoobies/Evos and live on the road. Thing is we'd soon run out of petrol.

I'm suprised. I thought Resident Evil was really good, far cleverer than I thought it was going to be with some good effects. The bit where she takes on the zombie guard dogs was most excellent.

You mean the Scene where they are getting the trucks to block the entrances? Or when they are fleeing the city?

Dawn of the Dead is a top film
I particularly like the allegorical nature of it, drawing a parallel between the mindless nature of consumerism and zombiesm!

personaly i think day of the dead is the best in the series, have'nt seen the uncut verson of dawn. just think the zombie's in day look a little more decaying so to speake.
if anyones seen zombie flesh eaters don't bother with the sequel's well at least not the second one as its utter cr@p badly dubed too.
i see 'last house on the left' is also getting released with only minor cuts which is supposed to be quite good
