Home cinema advice needed

Steve,
All the comments above are correct, however, I would possible approach this slighlty differently. . . . .
Does your Sony DVD output RGB? Does you TV accept RGB via the scart? Is this how you have got your system connected already? The second scart socket on your DVD is a loopthrough socket, this means that if you get an RGB playstation lead and connect to your DVD you will get the best possible picture quality. I know that the PS2 will not output RGB on DVD playback, but you already have a GOOD DVD player so what the hell
If you have a VCR that has two scart sockets, you should connect the PS2 to the loopthrough scart on the VCR, the VCR to the loopthrough on the DVD and the DVD to the RGB/Composite scart on the TV, and away you go, all connected up through a single scart on your TV.
Does your amp not have a digital intput, are you using the on-board decoding on the DVD. The best way to get sound out of your PS2 is via the digital toslink output.

Hi guys,
I know most of you are into Home Entertainment in a big way so thought I would ask the question here .
Only just getting into this stuff so I need some advice on connections.
I have just purchased a Sony DVD player(DVP-S535D) and connected it to a Sony amp(TA-VE150)with the 5.1 connection.Thing is I've got a Sony video(SLV-SE80)and a Playstation(anyone would think I'm Sony obsessed ).
Right now to the question,is it possible to connect the PS to the amp, also the amp came with an adaptor that goes between the video and tv scart socket can I use that as well as the 5.1 connections?Originally I was just using the original connection that came with the amp to give Pro Logic when watching Sky or videos.
I went and bought a Scart switchbox today(thanks for the advice on Saturday Sith) but I am still sitting here with a huge pile of cables and I am really confused.
Thanks in advance
Steve
P.S The tv only has one scart socket and nothing else.

If you have only one scart on tv, and no s-video? Then you can run audio and video from everything into the amp, and then from the amp to the tv. Of course this means you have to have the amp on all the time you are watching the others. Look at going s-video from amp to scasrt adapter into tv, you will get slightly better picture out of dvd. Make sure you can return it though if doesn't work, as some tv can't handle s-vieo input in any form and you may get black and white pictures only. PLUS, with everything running through amp you great surround out of the PS on games.

Thanks Wacko,
Yep no s-video on the tv,I have 2 scarts on the dvd,2 on the video,4 on the switchbox and I am also using a scart connector on the PS.
Where is the best place to get the s-video lead from?
Also is there anyway that you can talk me through it or even send me a diagram because I'm even more confused now .
Thanks
Steve

You can buy an adapter for the Playstation that gives the output to 3 phono plugs - left audio, right audio & composite video. I got mine from Toys r Us. This will allow you to connect to the Amp and you use it instead of the TV lead.

Steve, **** all that, you need a battery for a Nissan Sunny 1.5GL Auto to power the telly properly, so be a good boy, and rush out and pick one up rather than pissing around with your home porno set-up
