Ban Students from Using Cashback

Nothing worse than waiting in a queue with 5 scruffy Students infront buying some Lentils then having to wait for a 10 pound cashback 5 times!!! Drives me mad.
Can't they be arsed to go to the cashpoint round the corner? Bl**dy students!

'The idea behind £10 cashback is that it doesn't get authorised, so the students can get cash when a cash machine would refuse them for being over-overdrawn.'
In that case when they get their tenner, they'll get a nice letter charging them 10-25 pounds for the privelege of going overdrawn. And i thought Students were intelligent. LOL

used to do it all the time, the banks know you don't have any money, so don't charge you.. can easy rack up a couple of hundred over your overdraft.
Those were the days .. used to put £2 a time in my car

In case anybody is interested, the Balance Check facility that is offered by most cashpoints as soon as you put your card in is a way for the operator of the cash point to screw your own bank.
The acquiring bank can charge an Interchange fee to your issuing bank for the balance check transaction, which your own bank will never pass on to you as they would almost certainly lose a lot of business.
The banks that have cash machines in prominent places (NatWest, Abbey etc.) are making a mint out those that don't (e.g. Lloyds), especially now nearly all banks are part of the Link network, and nearly all banks' customers can use them.
So if you hate your bank, always check your balance when using another bank's machine!
