Can anyone tell me what is meant by "High Tea"?

I can only guess it isn't drinking a cup of tea at the top of a tower or in a helicopter, so what is meant by it?

Cheers

High Tea traditionally consists of:

Freshly baked scones and crumpets served with Devonshire cream and Country preserves

Afternoon tea sandwiches

Assorted pastries

Traditional trifle

It is usually served later than afternoon tea and more food is provided.

Tea (or coffee)

Afternoon tea is tea in the afternoon.
High tea is dinner with bread and scones after afternoon tea. I can never figure out how posh people get through the day

8.30 Breakfast
11.00 Elevenses
12.30 Lunch
2.00 Afternoon tea
4.00 High Tea
6.00 Dinner
8.00 Supper

8.30 - Bed to sleep after that much food

yeah but do you not think you would need a few hours kip in the afternoon after all that food? Then high tea would be late, spoiling your appetite for dinner, which would take longer to eat, so spoiling supper and then your nights sleep. It must be difficult to keep it all on a tight schedule
