Suppose I'll watch it for the novelty value. Anyone seen it? Why is it considered a classic? ANYWAY....It starts at 23:40.

Aint you seen it,basically its a low budget horror film, not really scary but pretty gory and intense later on.It was pretty revolutionary in its day.

Its a must see film btw.

Cool

I remember it being the ultimate horror/gore film when it came out.

More of a comedy now.

Are C4 showing it uncut?

From banned video nasty to mainstream TV. How times change.

you gotta love that bit where the old man is hitting the girl on the head with the hammer. And the bit where the killer hangs the girl on the meat hook while butchering her boyfriend, nice touch!

Cool

The meat hook scene is an all time classic.

The tomato kechup special effects are laughable though.

Watch it with the girlfriend. Afterwards we sat in silence for about 10 minutes dumbfounded. Very disturbing film.

The last part is very twisted around the table.

It was based around the real story of Ed Gein (american hick serial killer bloke) Although Gein worked alone, apparently the producers were trying to come up with a concept and someone said "what about a FAMILY of Ed Gien's?" and TTCM was born. The house in the film was based upon what the police actually found in Ed Gein's place when they raided it. do a search on Ed Gein and you will see the parralells between the film and the real story.
As for the film, I found it pretty disturbing when I first watched it. Which is probably a normal reaction if you watch something like that when you're ten years old.

Why a Classic you ask????????????
let me tell you...........
It was based on a True Story!!!!! like AstraBoy said

My mum and dad had it on video when it first came out in the early 80's.. then it was banned!!!!

I've never seen it nor do i want to... the thoughtof it acually happening to ppl is a bit macarbe.

Another classic would be 'Midnight Express'.... again based on a true story!

Evil dead is another classic....you have to remember the era of their release.TCM was in the mid 70's...nothing like it had ever been released before, same as Evil Dead, then later came Friday 13th and Halloween.
