I put my private reg onto retention 2 weeks ago now, and i still haven't received my V5 and retention certificate.

I was told by the DVLA it would take 7 working days, but there is no sign of it yet.

Anybody had experience of this, and how long does it usally take ?

it took mine about 4-5 weeks to come back

Yep they seem to be a bit slow at the moment. Guy I know brought a car recently and had the V5 through and it was missing his surname. He sent it back took about 4 weeks to come back.

I put my plate on retention about 5 weeks ago and still have had nothing back yet????

And i need the retention certificate to put plate on my new car!!!

It getting on my nerves now, as i waiting for it to come back, to sell my car !

It has still not arrived yet. I tried phoning the DVLA, what a joke that was ! it's just one big answering machine with no one at the end.

Is it possible to ring a number and fine out how long it will be ?

Jonto you could try and ringing the VRO (vehicle registration office) in Shrewsbury, number is in the book. I always deal with them as the DVLA is a nightmare to ring. I dont know if they can helkp but its worth a go.

Just ring the customer services at Swansea....always get straight thru to an operator...

Mine took a whopping 8 weeks to come through though....
