Electric Garage Doors
#1
Been looking at an electric garage door to replace my somewhat easy access up and over door.
Been quoted £2200 all in by Cordula - anybody know if that is a reasonable amount ?
Also, from a security point of view it has to be better than a standard up and over ?
Anybody any experience (good or bad) from Cordula ?
Thanks

we have an up and over type door, with the horizontal slide rails. i fitted an electric door opener to it (from B&Q - Chamberlain) and it cost ~£100. had it fitted around 2 years now and it's magic. Had quotes of £500+ to have one fitted...madness!

Bakerman2 we have just fitted our roller door to our double garage it's about 15" wide and it was a pice of pish to fit it took me and my cousin about 2 hours to fit
It cost about £1100 with all the goodies you need from
Lakeside Security with the Remotes and Control gear, key switch overide and Hand crank
It's well worth thinking about getting supply only as it can save you shedloads of money on the install costs
Thats what we did after ringing around a few people, we got quite a few quotes for the door, the one that was the dearest was from Cardale then Cordula etc etc by far the best and the most helpful was Lakeside and they nearly all use the same gear from Building Plastics and somfy moters, watch out for the ones that will not supply only as they will be very expensive
If you need any more info email as per profile

If the door is OK, then just get a kit - I've got twin garages and got a couple of Chamberlain ones from Wickes - cost around £150 each as I needed an additional arm.
They took a cople of hours each to fit - dead simple and have run without a problem for almost 5 years now !
Best deal around now is Screwfix as their package includes an extra remote & a keypad.

Have you considered a 'Wayne Dalton' sectional door, they're brilliant, and you should be able to get one for that sort of money, no matter what the size!!

With a roller door you don't lose any space above the door not like a sectional door or up and over, the roller fits into a nice 300mm x 300mm box
And they fit like a glove with no drafts
Our neighbor has had an electric kit fitted to his up and over door and the company that fitted it has been out loads of times to adjust it! and it still plays up now and then.

Thanks for the comments but I am now confused !
Do not want to do it myself, am happy to pay more for better quality but surely somebody has had a Cordula door fitted and therefore knows what the cost should be. I agree that >£2k sounds a lot but how does a company like Cordula exist if nobody uses them?
Anybody know any guys who will do the complete job in Oxfordshire?
