probably to take advantage of the kind of idiots who pay interest on credit card bills. If you can't afford it don't buy it or pay the penalty.
Why on earth do people pay interest on credit cards? Anyone able to explain that? Fools. Just pay them off at the end of every month. In fact you can get a mandate set up so thye just take whatevers owing from your account and you never pay a penny in interest. I have had in excess of 15 C/C over the past 10 yrs and have never paid a penny in interest on any of them. In fact a lot of them were interest free for 6 months and I just left the cash in an ISA earning interest FOR ME.

Not all of us bring in enough to pay them off in one month when we have a big purchase (i.e. my service + extended warranty last month, or insurance). Therefore paying it off in a month not always viable.
The petrol and other purchases i put on my card every month i do pay off when the bill comes in.

must be in line with the constant rises in interest rates, hey, no wait a minute....
I agree, plenty of people have stretched themselves, and then there's the case of what to do when peoples interest free period ends etc

AFAIK, upto six credit or store cards is good for your rating. More than that and some lenders worry you have too much credit to spend of high value consumer electronics & gadgets
