washing machine...

about as non scoob as you can get!
Ive a washing machine, and whilst it syill apears to be cleaning the clothes and its not flooding the kitchen, thers a hell of a pond smell inside the drum.
Ive cleaned the fluf filter (for the first time in months) and washed the powder draw, but it still stinks.
Any of you guys got any ideas?
The drum itself is clean & shint, ands its only about 5 years old.
Thanks.

Had a similar problem myself - give it a couple of days & it had the aroma of a stagnant pond
The only thing we could think of (after much cleaning & bleaching) was that the waste water was back feeding into the washing machine.
Sure enough, after Huxley re-engineered the waste pipe there was no more smell
It could be worth a look

this is caused by a build up on scum/cr#p inside the tub which
then starts to smell Its because low temperature washes dont
kill off the bacteria!!
Put a good dollop of powder in the machine (no clothes) and
put it on the HOTTEST wash - might have to do a couple of these -
and that should sort it. If not, resort to bleach - but be careful, you will be washing your clothes in it afterward

Or go to the chemist and buy some citric acid. Run it through the soap drawer on a boil wash. Thats what our engineers recommend

Ive tried a couple of empty runs on a hot wash. Maybe need to have some more goes but with powere/bleach/citric acit as well.
It stinks now. Really bad. Almost ready to call a repair man kerching!
I had a look at the waste pipe and counsnt see any props. I took U bend of under sink where it joins and that was clear.
