imprint cement driveways - yes or no ?

Initially I thought this would be a great addition to DazV's homestead but I've just heard some nasty stories about cracking of aforementioned concrete ?
Anyone have one ?

my neighbour has one- looks very good and certainly low maintenance- i gather they can go very pear shaped though so get someone good and who offers a guarantee (not some bloke who likes dagggs)

@ DazV,
Imprinted concrete driveways so look quite good. Be wary though of the day the concrete is layed though as when we had this done, it was quite hot and we had hose running the whole day keeping enough moisture in the concrete. It turned out very well though. After about 2 years though, and having driven over the exact same spot each day, the colour began to wear away, leaving two lines up the drive. The colouring was done cheaply though.
Another thing is that you will get loads of dirt, and leaves caught up in the imprint. But not worth going against it just for that. All in all, it is a nice option. Make sure they put in good flex lines too - as with the temp change and as it dries out, cracks will form...
Good luck mate

The imprint still retains a good level after many years, but the "real thing" as you put it (if not layed on a good bed of concrete to start with) looks poor after many years... My 2c worth

my drive is block pave- the neigbours is fake.
i would rather have theirs- theirs has weathered better, is easy to clean- just jet wash (jet wash block pave and it falls apart) and looks as nice- if not better.

Yes, I have block paving on my driveway and its very high maintenance in terms of moss and weeds growing out of it.
You don't get that with the concrete imprint drives as they're totally sealed so nothing can get through. Also they're treated with a special coating which is impervious to oil, so it just hoses off *allegedly*
Thanks for all the comments lads, esp cheesyboy.

Get block paved - spray it with path clear and then give it two coats of block paving sealer you can get from your local builder suppliers. We have been in the house since 1997. I have retreated the drive every three years. Takes about 4 hours and looks as good as the day it was laid. Cleaning is done with a garden hose. Once it is properly sealed the dirt just flows away.
