driveway problem
#1
Looking to buy a house and I think I've found one but the problem is the curb to get on the driveway is too high for the lip spoiler to clear.
Anyone else had this problem and know if anything can be done about it. The house is probably from a time when people drove cars with plenty of clearance but it don't help my issue!!!

Ask your local council about putting in a dropped kerb, you'll probably have to pay for it (my dad had to and he works for them!) but it will aid access and also make it illegal (I think) for someone to park in front of it.

stu,
i think that it is an offense to mount a full kerb to cross a pavement onto a driveway (although many do so, including using the "block of wood" technique).
To be legal (and not liable), you will need to pay your council to drop the kerb - why not ask them how much it will cost (and post the results here)?

you'll need to speak to the council about getting a dropped kerb, if there is already a driveway there then it shouldn't be a problem, although you will have to pay for it. The last time my dad enquired to the council about a dropped kerb they quoted him about £600, so it may be worth asking their permission and then getting someone else to do the job.
