Old Basing to Bracknell route advice
#1
Hi Folks,
just thinking of buying a house in Old Basing ( basingstoke / right next to M3 junction 6 ) and need to travel to Bracknell everyday.
Has anyone got any good quick routes to suggest? i.e. Minimal traffic, avoiding m3 junction 4 and is fun to drive ( if thats possible these days ) ?
Cheers for your help

I haven't any experience of the traffic problems, but this is how I would do it.
Follow A30 all they way, past Blackbush and turn left towards Yately, then back of Sandhurst to Crowthorne then to Bracknell. I can give you a more detailed route if you like.

Hi Paul,
Cheers for the info, I'll check the map out for this one. I was thinking of doing something similar this morning when i did a test but missed a turn and carried on into Camberley on A30. Still it only took 35 minutes.
Is the A30 pretty quick from Basingstoke to Blackbushe then? and is there a window of opportunity you have to stick too or the traffic gets worse?
Cheers

Wouldn't use the A30 when the M3's cloggy though, especially after they've announced it on the travel news. When I lived in Fleet, I took the A30 to work (Frimley) instead of the M3 as they'd said it was stodgy and it took me three and a half hours.
Old Basing to Bracknell - your best bet is to grin and bear the M3. Taking the back roads is hellish.
Hope this helps

Hi All..looks like I'll be moving down this way now as Ive just had an offer accepted on a cool place in Old Basing. Also noticed another DBM UK turbo in the village the other day ( not sure if visiting though ) so we could do a local meet....exhausts would sound rather nice round those little lanes!

Not me, but I love hooning it down those country lanes (epsecially past the lime pits), you get a good effect of rally driving
Speaking as as B/Stoke-er who does the A30/M3 corridor every working day, I've never had any problems going down the A30 to Blackbushe. The only real stumbling block is the dodgy traffic lights just before Hook, and Hartley Whitney.
Most mornings the M3 is good as far as Farnborough (where I work), and it starts to slow there, so depended on traffic you may get caught by slow traffic about Fleet services. Again it all depends on whether you want to join the M£ at Basingstoke or travel to hook and get on it there.
The good thing about Old Basing is your pretty much out of the way of the ring road.
BTW: I live by the unsightly thing that is the AA building - good for blocking terrestial tv signals.
