Feckin Soap Operas!

How stupid is the viewing nation becoming? The TV companies, instead of risking new TV formats are pushing more and more dross at us (e.g. how many more 'makeover' shows do we have to stomach!)
The soaps are the worst culprit - Coronation Street and Eastenders are on most nights now and we have a worrying trend from 1 hour of the two towards 90mins a night with 'special' sotry lines. I may have to kill the growler and create a soap-like romantic tragedy myself if I can't wean her off this dross.
Why the f4ck do people watch them? They're dull predictable tableaus of sad boring every day lives. At least inject some tasty gusset if this tat has to be endured much longer!
Rant over.......

Heard on Terry Wogan's show this morning (what?) that in THE episode of Corrie last night, the murderer bloke was in the middle of confessing all to his wife when he paused and said, and correct me if I'm wrong:
I'll just put the kettle on while you take it all in.
The nation shouldn't be deprived of that level of sheer comic genius.

Coronation Street? Eastenders? What are they?
I only ever catch these when I go to visit my parents, as my mum watches them. Managed to see 2 episodes of Eastenders thus far...the happy jolly Christmas edition where someone died and the equally happy, isn't-the-world-great version when Mark? ran off to effectively die.
Happy happy joy joy....
