Question

My Nokia 6310 is just about to give up and so I'm looking for a new phone.

Having had a look around at what's available I'm a little underwhelmed, the best phone on the market currently appears to be the Panasonic GD87 - my sisters phone.

I was having a look at www.expansys.com and they're going to be selling the Sony Ericsson P800 within the next few days.

It looks pretty good, but I don't want to connect to 02 (I'm a Vodafone man, if not Orange will do...) and baulk at paying £500+ for a mobile.

First off, has anybody had their hands on this phone? If so, what were your thoughts?

And secondly, can anybody get hold of one for me at a cheaper price than that of Expansys?

I could try upgrading but Singlepoint want me to change my tariff to a more expensive option (I currently pay £15 for 150 free mins anytime, plus 50 free texts) and will probably try to rip me off on the handset price anyway.

If anybody can offer me anything please get in touch at: andym172@[no spam]yahoo.com (remove the [no spam] bit! )

Thanks!

Andy.

p.s. Luke - can you please contact me at: andym172@[no spam]yahoo.com please regarding a cheap 6310i

Thumbs up

Excellent phone.
Depending on what you want it for ...

I would prefer the ability to edit Word/Excel documents instead of just a viewer.

Men in Black II is a great game.

When browsing the internet, the you should be able to turn the phone sideways to get a widescreen view.

P800 will be upgradeable to support 3G so it may be futureproof ...

Thanks for the link!

Having seen how big it is (about the size of an Apple iPod) I may go for an 8910i now instead...

Spoke to Singlepoint who, I will admit, were pretty helpful. Neither the P800 or 8910i are going to be available from them for a few weeks yet
The operator reckoned I'd be looking at about £100 for the 8910i - my phone bill is about £45 per month.

SO, if anybody knows where I can get a cheap(ish) 8910i please let me know!

Andy.

Orange have a 3 week jump ( for a change ) on the P800. There are some 'deals' going about too...

I think the 8910i is the one I'm going to end up going for.

I've just got to amke up my mind whether or not I can wait for a few weeks (probably over a month) for it.

I want to stay with Vodafone because most of my friends are with them. If I changed, I reckon my bills would go through the roof!

What's the best tariff going currenty?
As I said earlier, I pay £15 for a Singlepoint tariff (TextSaver 50 Minute Saver 150) and my bill comes to between £40 and £50 per month.
If I could get an 8910i for less than £100 with a tariff that's not going to cost me much more per month then that may be the route to go down...

Go on the 200 min Xnet and 300 texts tariff. They are doing 6 months 1/2 price at the mo so you'd get if for about £23. Based on what you're on it would probably all you'd pay so you'd cut your bill in half. I would end up paying for the phone

You can get the P800 on Orange for about £100. Wait a while and it'll come down on all networks. I paid £250 for a 7650 about two months before they came down to £50.

STi - being a dunce I can't find that tariff.

Is there any chance you could point me in the right direction? (a link would be excellent!).
