We used to go as a family every year and stay in a Gite for 2 weeks, which was ace. Is there any particular area you're looking at?

My parents have a house there, so quite often. They don't rent it out to anyone other than family and friends.

We were thinking of doing this this summer.

Clarebabes, how do I become one of your parents friends? LOL

Tazman, have you got something to rent out then?

my favoured holiday method every time:

http://www.gites-de-france.fr/fr/index.htm

select your region, research the precise area you want to go to, connect to the gites de france website for that department, search for type of property ( I stick to 3 epis) and then ring the owners to discuss - very reliable, very cost effective and massive choice.

If you don't speak the lingo there are tour operators who will do the work for you though the choice is usually limited and the cost doubles.

I didn't want to come home when I first went there. It is beautiful, clean, safe and quiet.

I'd move there tomorrow if it weren't for factors such as work, kids etc...

LeeMac,

You're asking the wrong guy, ask Tazman..............
I'm fishing for a good deal on a holiday, trouble is, I wanted to go further south.
Plenty of web sites there to look at, thanks all.
