I won't say "friend", cos nobody will believe me anyway, but 8 litres of NUL into a 60 litre tank on a diesel (non-performance) Octavia.
Safe to drive? Or syphon it out?

I'd say check with Skoda.
Not the same thing but a friend of my family willed up the oil tank with water What a plonker He was trying to fill up the water reservoir!!
After an expensive repair bill he could drive it again

I thought I read somewhere that it was OK and that people did just that (add unleaded to diesel). IIRC it was actually in the handbooks of some pugs for winter running

It wouldn't have been Tav, the other 50 litres or so are diesel, so it's a pretty weak concentration of unleaded.
I actually think he's driven off the forecourt now, so if it goes bang, i'll let you know!

Thanks for that. The first post is a horror story, but quite a few people seem to have done it without ill effect. Fingers crossed.

If you syphon out the tank there will still be diesel in the fuel lines, so as long as you fill it back up before starting you should be OK. According to the mechanic who does the volvo turbodiesel in my boat; as long as I use the little lever to prime the fuelpump I don't have to bleed the injectors, they'll just run dry for a little bit whilst the air is pumped through them, then they'll work as normal.
