That is one big old space. I admire their bullish hard work ethic but I think they need to divide the interior up more. I mean, the heating bills will be *huge*.
Papering the cieling with old newspaper I don't think so. Interesting project though (as always)

**** - 200K profit (at least) in 1 year. So they are both on 100K salary for doing that (if they sell) No proffessional help and no previous experience. I'm inspired (again)

If I were them I would use the equity on the value of the property to buy up and do a couple more in other parts of the country. They obviously know the routine now. Employ a couple of people to do the dirty work and within 5 years they could have a million from sales and in equity. job done
It's got me thinking....

jlanng, 100k a year's a bit optimistic, they'll never be able to do it again like that, it took them three years to buy the plavce, a year to do it, so I make that 25k a year not 100, besides, they probably would not sell it, they put thier lives into it, trust me, thats what I'm doing right now, and it's killing me!!!!!!!1

I thought last week's was equally interesting and equally successful, but they missed one vital point: 2 adults, 2 children and only 2 bedrooms, never mind a place for guests to stay.
In 2001 I bought a bungalow, demolished it and built a house on the site, moving in just 5 months later. But I might add that it's still not finished! I can assure you that you need to be very committed and also slightly mad. If anyone's seriously interested, get yourself a plot of land and e-mail me on what to do next!

I thought it was fantastic. Houses/buildings used to be made so well, with stunning design features and hard graft put into areas most people would never see.
Last weeks was ridiculuous, with that Wooden Box building. I did actually like the finished product, but they said it had been valued at nearing £400K!!! Who the f**k is going to pay that much money for a medium sized house with a small bathroom and two medium sized bedrooms?!?!?!?!?

Taped it. Unfortunately only got first half
Was interested as I went to view a couple of disused water towers a few years back in Derbyshire, but couldn't risk not getting planning permission. There was a LOT of old bits of machinery left in that must have taken ages to remove.
One was up for sale for 30k in an idyllic setting with beautiful round tower at one end. went past a few years later and it has been beautifully converted, stables have been added on, could kick myself! If anyone lives near Barlow nr Chesterfield, its in the valley near the woods.
Good luck to the couple, I think I would have divided it a little more tho!
