I mate of mine cut one of his tats today, its on his calf, it was quite deep but I don't really think it's going to scar. Can he expect it leave a permanent mark or effect the ink on the tattoo?

Shouldn't do if he gets some special plasters from Boots that are used to "slowly knit wounds together" (They are used in hospitals and prevent scaring.
The human body knits like crazy to heal a wound - and its not pretty!!! Imagine superman drunk!
Though wheteher he gets these plasters or not he should still be ok

No big deal if it does scar,just go back and have the bits that require touching up re-done.
They can re-ink faded tats and they can tattoo over certain scaring.
