What you've got to remember is that for every borrower there are around 8 investors, so they can't drop rates too far or they will lose their investors.

Put the rates up, I say!!

Halifax are dropping by 0.1%.

See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/2735519.stm

This must cost more in postage notifying borrowers than they will save in their repayments

The full 0.25%. I'm with Barclays Open Plan. Guaranteed to never be more than 0.75% over base rate.

Question

Will it affect the Housing Market do you think?

I can see the most expensive houses dropping in price now, its bound to have a knock-on affect?

If I was buying, and I might when prices drop, I would want a 10 year fix at - what? say 5%??

Abbey National always take ages to pass interest rate decreases on to their mortgage customers. Sooner I can kick them into touch, the better....
