shady mortgage providers

ok... My credit rating is somewhere between p155 poor and attrocious. I don't owe any money to anyone and earn a reasonable wage. Is there any way for me to get a mortgage??? I've thought about some of the less "well known" providers but i'm not sure if thats a good idea or not. I'm only looking for 2.5 x my salary so even if interest rates increased dramatically i'd still be able to afford repayments.

have you actually tried applying with some of the big banks etc, for some reason i have had trouble in past with personal loans but getting a £160k mortgage and finance on cars was easy peasy, maybe cos they are secured on what you are buying ?

I was refused by the Halifax last month, despite having an up to date mortgage with them for the past 7 years, and, paying it off in full (making a healthy profit from the house sale).
I recently applied online for an RBS mortgage... still to hear back though.
If i don't get that then i'll probably be looking to some of the less reputable mortage companies. Right now i'm paying double in rent that i'd be paying for a mortgage for the same house.

Get a copy of your credit file from Equifax and the other one that I've foprgotten the name of and find out why you're rated so badly. Assuming you don't know, of course. Could be there's an error.

if you are confident that you have figures to back up the borrowing then talk to an IFA- they will be able to talk to lenders direct and put your case....i got ppl credit when they wouldnt have otherwise.
