More is forcast for this afternoon so it looks like the drive home tonight is gonna be interesting.

Couldn't agree more. Got held up numerous times where people had abandoned their cars in the middle of the road, for no apparent reason.
Tomorrow morning is going to be even more fun, methinks - slight thaw, followed by a freeze, with a little snow on top to hide the ice underneath

took me an extra 15 mins to get in Looks like the gritters overslept this morning..
I Left Reading in a blizzard this morning
Was tempted to pull the ABS fuse out so I could stop from 20mph in under 300ft

I cant believe so few people on here have been affected, North London was a carpark last night, my girfriend took 5 hours from Archway to Finchley!!!,the M1 was down to 1 lane and crawling at 20 mph at, but I pity the poor sods still crawling out of London on the M1 northbound, it was solid at 23.00!!!!
Now for a nice crawl to Heathrow.......

In my humble opinion a lot of the problem is caused by incompetent drivers.
The problem is that at the first sign of a flake of snow many people slow down to a crawl, which is great except the roads and grit need traffic passing with warm tyres to work. So the people that slow to a crawl hen can't get up the hills, they get stuck, the people behind are also going at a crawl, they try to pass, get stuck too, hence the road is blocked and everyone is at a standstill.
The trick is to go quickly up the hills to keep up the momentum and slowly down them to keep control, ensuring a large gap to the car in front so if they stop one has time to consider ones options and go round them. Equally when going downhill one should consider giving way to those coming up so they don't stop. If everyone did this yes progress would be slow, but it would be quicker than everyone been stationary behind stuck vehicles.

Well, it took me 12 1/2 hours to get home last night Travelling from Bristol -> Stevenage.
Left Bristol @ 2:30 pm got home at 03:00 am.
The journey is 160 miles, not bad considering I don the first 110 miles in 1.5 hours.
Still, at home today as I can't get to the office
