Talking

I bought a FujiPix 2400 which I am very happy with. If you want a picture example, I took some quick pix with it from an ICE install. YOu can see them under the ICE section, to do with fitting a CD changer in the boot. I just put the camera on auto, pressed the buttom.

Camera seemed to have been rated quite well in a fair number of camera magazines. Cost was 350 for camera, case, battery+charger, extra 16Mb card (comes with 8Mb). Bought online, as it was 350 just for camera with 8MB card in shops.

Edit: Forgot to mention it downloads via I-Link through USB.

Question

I want to buy a Digi Camera for stills, if it managed short mpegs that would be brilliant, but not necessary. Any one got any ideas on what I should be looking for and some recommendations?

Cheers

Budget would be under £500 if poss the cheaper the better within reason and all that. Not really sure on downloading method etc. I would be connecting it up to an IBM 600e Thinkpad Laptop if that helps?

I use it for my Scooby pictures (e.g. at

I brought my Ixus about eight months ago from Dixons Gatwick. You have to be flying to get to it though.

I paid something like £420 inc VAT, when everyone else was selling them at around £500 to £599 + VAT.

I was going to go with a Nikon Coolpix 990 or the Fuji 7700. When I was at the duty-free in Heathrow a guy strolled over and raved about the Sony DSC-1 which I ended up buying. It does all the bits you're looking for plus it has a superb battery - camcorder type thing that'll run for about 2 hours with the LCD on and all. The only downside is that it uses a proprietry system of RAM - Sony's Magicstick but as I've got one of their MP3 players (ships with 64Mb)this suited me.
