Help please - best cure for stomach bug

I ate a dodgy ham roll last week and have still got an upset stomach - food just keeps repeating on me - and I feel generally weak.
Any suggestions for the best medicine? Alcohol tried already...

Have the same problem myself, but from a virus, Drunknorgy's advise is exactly what the doctor has just told me. You need to drink plenty of water to flush the cause out of your system, eating food just feeds the bacteria

I had a particularly unpleasant bug last year and was still not right weeks later. doctor advised me to take natural yoghurt (Actimel or similar) as this would help replace the good bacteria in the stomach.

Take can / bottle of Coca-Cola (NOT diet, the full-sugar & caffeine version), preferably not from the fridge. Open & pour into large glass. Stir for about 30secs until it's no longer very fizzy. Drink.
It kills upsets & bacteria in no time. It has to be real Coke tho' -- no other soft works as well as it does.

Agreed - don't eat anything for 24 - 48 hours, depending on how bad you are. Drink copious amounts of water, though.
When you come back onto food, eat bland products like boiled rice or pasta and SMALL amounts initially. Otherwise your stomach suddenly gets hit with flavoured food and revolts again.

I've just had a stomach bug and immodium trapped the bug in for longer and gave very bad stomach cramps at the same time. If you can avoid taking it, do.
My bug wouldn't go away so I did some research on the internet when I was feeling better but still had some symptoms. A medical site said that after a nasty bug, your body has trouble digesting lactose (milk) for a couple of days after. I stopped all dairy products over the weekend and the diahrroea stopped. I've started up dairy products again today and I still feel fine so I think that idea worked well.
Lost 4lb while I was ill, but unfortunately I developed a huge appetite when I got better so I think I may be putting them back on! Ooops.

I've had this bug, its taken about 6 weeks to get something like. No real appetite, bad wind, got easily knackered like after running upstairs.
Obviously something doing the rounds
2 week course of antibiotics helped, finished them last week.
Imagine not having an appetite over Christmas, forced a bit of wine down me though (purely medicinal).

Drink Dioralite as well as water (not sure of the spelling) but it is especially for this and replaces all your body salts etc. Get blackcurrant and top up with Ribena as it tastes awfull.
Also make a jelly lots of sugar and water plus the bulk stops you feeling hungry.
Nature will take it's course.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Yesterday I drank a couple of cans of flat coke, and ate plenty of bio yoghurt. Today I'm doing the "starvation" bit, just drinking water. Temptation is all around however
I'll give an update later...

When I had gastroenteritis I had this stuff call Dyarite (or something similar) It contain as all the essential minerals etc you need. Doesn't stop you crapping but makes you feel better.

Feeling really hungry now
I'm fighting the temptation to convince myself that it'll be okay if I eat something now, as it's been 18 hours since I last ate. Glad to say that stomach has been fine today.

Cheers SCOSaltire.
Well I did 33 hours without food. Today been eating bland food and no dairy produce, BUT I've still got indigestion symptoms like before. Damn
Must be some bacterial thing that will need antibiotics to shift it...
