Finding a job in australia or New Zealand

Jobserve has it's own Oz site, as does Monster.
You'll need to sort out visa's yourself though, as most ask that you already possess a permit to work out there.
Could lead to a sponsorship so you can stay there permanently if that's the way you're thinking.
Best of luck.

not sure I can be of much help but am off to NZ next week for 3 weeks of hiking, bungy jumping and scuba diving. what line of work would you be looking for? I guess I could look out for some trade magazines or something and post up anything relevant when I get back. NZ will not be the easiest place to get a permit though (unless like me you have dual nationality!!!). It is really a case of having a skill which is in demand so that an employer will sponsor you.

Yeah, my Gf is an Aussie, we will definitely be going out there soon, but the job market is about 3x as bad as it is here.
My plan is to stay here and clear as much off the mortgage as possible till it picks up (if it does!) and then go.
If you do go, MAKE SURE you have a job to go to first. If you go on spec, and you are in employment here, IMHO you're nuts

we use this site for job ads - so it's kosher
www.nzjobs.co.nz
And if advertisers don't want o/seas applicants, the ad usually states that.
Current rules and regs are at www.immigration.govt.nz.
And if you currently own a house in SE England with no mortgage, you would probably qualify with having sufficient assets to be welcomed with open arms.

ptholt,
Me too mate, I've worked my way up the IT ladder from the bottom, now a contactor.
However I've not found the lack of a Degree to be a problem just now, I think employers are more interested in the experience you can bring and what systems you've actually used/ implemented rather than the theory.
It's only a barrier for working in another country like Oz, which is a real pain since I fancy taking the plunge one day and junking this country for good.

ptholt,
according to a few people I've spoken to, Aus is crying out for IT people, in fact using the point scoring system, they give extra points for IT. I scored 125 points, you need 115 to qualify apparently.

NotoriousREV,
A couple of years ago I would have agreed with you, I was out there in 2000, and intend going back, but at the moment their market is WAY worse than ours
If I knew I had a job in Oz I'd go tomorrow, but I wouldn't go on spec with a view to finding something when I got there, which is definitely something I would have done two years ago.
Also, with that point score you are presumably degree qualified, something ptholt says he isn't
