Windows 2000 uninstall ??
#1
I upgraded from Win 98 to Win 2000 pro, I'm convinced the upgrade has knackered my graphics somehow as MS Flight sim runs very slow and the graphics are poor compared to before. The Win 98 folders still exist in the Options folder but I've no idea how to uninstall win 2000. I'm tempted to format the disk and install win 98 from scratch, I assume all I'll need is a boot up floppy which then fires up the Win 98 CD. Does Win 98 need Dos installed as well/first ?. Any advice welcome.

You can't un-install Win 2000, so if you want to go back to Win 98 it's time to start again.
We have a Win 98 CD at work that is bootable, so don't need a boot floppy.
If you make a boot up floppy, make sure you test it before formatting the HD (can you read the CD-ROM from the A prompt?)
IIRC, the make Startup Disk util (Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > Startup Disk I think) in Win 98 makes a boot floppy with CD drivers.
Before you reformat, have you checked to see if you have the latest Windows 2000 drivers for your video card?
What version of Flight Sim is it?
Try

chris,
Thanks for reply, its Flightsim 2000 (not pro). I did update the graphics card with the new drivers but I'm convinced that the performance is nowhere as good now as it was under Win 98 - its P3 550 with 128 Ram and a Diamond Viper 16mb graphics card. The other problem that Win 2000 has given me is that there's no 2000 upgrade for my DVD player as yet (Cinemaster by Ravisent)so I think its back to win 98 to see if that improves things. I'll check to see if my CD is bootable and that I can access the CD from the A drive.
Thanks
Kevin.

Make sure your CD is set to one of the bootable devices in your BIOS then put the CD in, reboot the system and it should ask you if you want to boot from CD or hard disk. You might have to make the CD the first bootable device in the BIOS depending on what system board and BIOS it is.
