DIY SOS in Spain last night

I saw it and I know what you mean.... I remember once saying quite loudly to my husband once when we were in a restaurant in France and we were trying to communicate with the waiter in French (neither of us being proficient in the language, but we were trying) and the family at the next table were English, with perfect French -good for them... who thought our attempts to be profoundly entertaining and were laughing at us quite openly...
I said quite loudly..... 'SOMETIMES, THERE ARE NONE SO IGNORANT THAN THE BRITISH ABROAD' needless to say they were very red faced. On the other hand I have also met some fairly ignorant people from other countries... can't be just a British syndrome ... there is always someone ready to have a laugh at someone's expense - no matter what nationality they are.

Tell you what thought, I wish they would come and do my house FOC. It p1sses me off to see people getting there houses done for free on the old beeb. I mean, that bloke with the kitchen. My tea lady could have done a better job than that. He buys this house with sweet FA as far as DIY knowledge was concerned. Don't tell me he expected a good outcome. People like that p1ss me off a treat

Did anyone watch this ? They did a good job of the houses but i thought that the way they seemed to be with the Spanish was terrible. I know that they were playing up to the cameras a bit, as i guess the producers thought it was funny, but they basically were mocking the Spanish at every available opportunity.
It just goes to show how ignorant the majority in this country are, if the producers assume that they can go to Spain, not be able to string more than 2 Spanish words together and to laugh at the locals seemingly as they couldnt speak English, and the nation would find this funny.
It made me feel embarrassed to be English.
