Which Radar Detector
#3
I just bought a Snooper SD815 radar detector. Cost about £250.
Gives good prior warning to fixed and mobile speed traps but also bleeps at every set of traffic lights that have little radars on top of them that detect waiting traffic. Doh!
Would still recommend one though.

The question to ask is.... what are the main types of cameras used around the areas in which you travel the most?
Gatso?
Laser?
Truvelo?
SPECS?

I got the Road Angel, very good, no false alarms detects Blackspot camaras, Specs, Mobile speed camaras and fixed Gatso. Global posistioning system and very accurate speedo on dual colour LCD display. £379.00. Downsides are a bit big and you have to pay an annual subscription of £39 to keep updating it.

I got a bel LR for radar units, but it seems a little hit and miss these days due to Truvelo and SPECS systems.
Would definitely look into all the options before making a purchase.
Also, look at jammers.

I bought a Snooper S5 which is great for anything than Truvelo and Specs. I use it all the time and particularily useful for when you are out of your area.
Personally I never travel much over 82 mph on the motorway as I think this is where you are exposed the most as there is no defence against VASCAR in an umarked police car and who knows what is travelling behind you.
The best place to research this particular market is to log onto www.radardetectors.co.uk I bought mine through them and saved some money. There are comparison charts and descriptions of the various machines. Its really worth a look.
Also whilst you are on the internet type in - speed traps - and your search engine ( Google in my case ) may find the site which tells you about the different types of speed traps that are currently in use. Once again its useful information to preserve your licence.
Good luck.

I wouldn't bother with a detector myself. A good jammer tells you if you are being beamed as well as protecting you. Add a GPS gatso device like the Origin, and you're about 90% covered.
