How long does it take your Road Angel to locate sats in the morning?

Mine sometimes takes up to 2miles whilst driving.
Don't have time to sit on drive way while it waits to lock on.
Am I doing something wrong or is the unit faulty?
Cheers,
Mark.

No = its probably OK
When you switch on a GPS unit, it needs to locate the signals from the available GPS satellites. Once it receives a signal, it doesn't know where it is, so until it can detect discernable movement against the earth compared to the sat (not vehicle movement) it does not know the sats location. It needs a minimum of 3 for a fix. That is known as a cold start & can take upto 5 mins or so.
If you go into & out of a tunnel, then it will reaquire quickly as it knows there was sats up there in certain positions, so takes a guess & is able to get a fix quickly. Sit in a tunnel (Blackwall ) for a while & it takes a bit longer to reaquire.
Rough explanation.
