Looking at these - tempted by the Toshiba "pictureframe" telly (32ZP-18P) as it has a very small frame.
I want to spend no more than £1300 - any suggestions ?

Ro,

I bought our Sony FX65 (or something like that) from the Sony Centre. They occasionally have reconditioned units that have been out, been returned as faulty and been repaired by the factory to "as new" state.

Saved 500 quid off the TV...

...also came with a 5 year guarantee.

You should be able to get a damn good unit for the money if you go that way.

I'd recommend the unit we've got, but it's last year's model. It's one of the first-ish generation 100Hz, so consequently it doesn't like some smooth scrolling titles. Newer models are switchable between 50/100 to get around this "idiosyncracy". Colour performance is nothing less than stunning, as is clarity - everything.

One thing that I absolutely love is Teletext caching. The TV caches teletext meaning that you can get any page instantly. If there's multiple pages on a single number, you can control what page you want to see and manually advance through. Stupid as it sounds, this really is a brilliant feature if you ever use teletext

chiark - thanks for that.
Know what you mean about faster teletext. Whenever I want to see whats on telly it always lands 4 pages from the page I want & you have to wait & wait !

Yes but even with text caching you have to wait Its only any good if you want to read the page you land on as well, as this gives it times to cache the other pages present. Therefore allowing an instant switch to other pages.

If you want the 3rd page with Page 361 but you arrive on the first page you will have to wait until the 3rd page is cached before you can switch to it. Hope that makes sense.

By the way I have a Sony Widescreen as well, and its about time I learnt to use all its features properly but the Net keeps getting in the way.

By the way I also hear you should keep the box because if it does go wrong then Sony will charge £80 for a box for it to be returned to them.

Ro: I got that Tosh you mentioned last year this time, off the net for £1100, when high street prices were £1600. Spend some time looking and go for it, i love mine!

Ive got a Sony Art Couture FX75 32 Thing and it kicks ****!!!!

It cost me £1600 as I had to have it that day but wow what a TV!!, they are going for £1100 now!

Looks the business and performs soooo well. Needs a home cinema system for really good sound, Ive got the Sony DAV-S880 which again I HIGHLY recommend!!

For a 32" Telly for just over £1k get Tosh or Sony.

Had a Loewe "Studio Art1" TV years ago...very good. But they have spoilt the new models with stupid model name badges on them... It makes them look cheap. The name "Loewe" badge is all they need.

Bought a "Loewe"portable in germany 2 years ago for less than £200 they are soooooooooooo cheap there.

I would like a new 32" TV for Christmas, I also liked the look of the Panasonic's picture frame ones, nice that from the front its all picture and hardly any cabinet.

Loewe TV's are superb picture quality, check a quality hi-fi dealer for a demo if you haven't seen the picture on one, I personally think the styling is horrible though, and the stands are pretty naff looking aswell.

Ro,

The "Q" models are the latest spec, identical to the "P" but with the split Teletext/TV function removed.

For £1300 you could get the 36" version if you had room for it.

Try Pricerunner.com.

Sony 100Hz 32" has done me proud for over 2 years now.

As with everything these days, it was old stock within months of purchase.

Looking to go bigger and I am defo. sticking with Sony although I will search web for best price(again!!)
