Would you respect the Fire Fighters if....

... they striked but still responded to 999 calls only?
I for one think that they should, and I would have more respect.
Sure they have pay issues, and I'm with that to an extent, but I think that lives are at risk, especially with the war on terror and xmas looming.

I thought all their calls were 999, so do we just look through the yellow pages these days when the house is on fire looking for the local stations number? I think NOT!!!!

I mean training, checking hydrants, etc
Perhaps a fire fighter on the bbs could tell us what else they do apart from direct emergency stuff?

but if they don't check hydrants they can't respond to 999 calls and if they don't train then they might not be able to do their job!
You are taking rubbish IMO.

I'm just trying to think of ways they can protest and not put public safety at risk - that all.
Please take my question as that and nothing else.

I work for a bank and our union will not let us strike as it would lead to problems with our customers.
So surely the Firefighters can do the same, afterall their job is far more important than mine in a bank!
