Is it a gurkha regiment?. Its looks like an eastern/oriental design, but its sewn to a camo uniform. This may sound thick, but i cant think of any other armies with that style of camo other than the UK.

The top left simbol is kinda like the (?) BMA medical simbol - snake type thing? Am I way off the mark?
I guess the stripes don't represent rank, as that would not be on a unit/regimental patch.
Not much help am I

I think it is a clenched fist...
Um.. the uniform is British issue.
The badge is on the left sleeve at the top of the arm.

Sorry
Wasn't trying to mess your thread. I was seriously thinking that the snake/fist thing was medical, and the 1/2 moon shape was perhaps a country symbol. A quick google flag search and I can't find any flags with that shape.
by the three stripes tho - not rank I assume.
Any clues on where you came by it, and in what context? What theatre of military ops?
Also do any of the techies know where you put and image in a search engine and find matches?

Found it!
I think my picture is better!
This is the other version:
Apparently it is the formation sign for:
20th (UK) Armoured Brigade
It is a black fist on dark blue (purple if you ask me) and is the new issue.
The old one looked like this:
I prefer the new one!
Ah well after about five hundred web searches the quest is over!

David,
Sorry I wasn't meaning to sound like I was having a pop... just used to the muppet habit of tangent thread!
The badge is still attached to a jacket I got of the internet. The site deals with selling army surplus stuff. I wanted it to play airsoft in... tragic I know.

I was starting to get into that.
What search engines did you use? I challenged an older lady at work that I could find anything on the web - I am soon to be tasked with finding exactly what rear lights where fitted to a 1950's British Military vehicle - I don't have any more details yet!
Did I open my big mouth to soon?

Edited - for to many sorrys

I found the badge on this website:
http://www.kellybadge.co.uk/formationsigns.htm
Then did a crtl+F search for "fist"... got lucky there!
I found the kacket and other bits here:
http://www.the-outdoor.co.uk/ishop/853/shopscr177.html
The interest was many due to the fact I wanted to know what the badge meant... just in case someone ever asked!
BTW:
20 Armoured Brigade was the first to lose one of its armoured regiments when the 1st Royal Tank Regiment returned to UK in April this year to retrain as a Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare Defence Regiment. The majority of 20 Armoured Brigade is based in Paderborn, though there is a significant element in Sennelager. The brigade headquarters recently moved from Paderborn to Sennelager.
The following units within the Brigade are on the Web:
Queen's Royal Hussars
1st Battalion Royal Regiment of Wales

500 web searches I hope it don't take me that long
It seems her son is trying to restore a British Military vehicle that her husband drove in the 50's, having fought in WWII. Doubtless I will post on here if I get in the poo
Cheers

Actually it was about six different search parameters and then just going though the pages of results!
Sounds a bit less impressive though!

As an Ex Royal Tank Regiment soldier i can confirm that the clenched fist represents the "Armoured Corps" as a whole, the individual designs determine Groups and the colours determine age and status within the army pecking order i.e cavalry tend to be grey, infantry red, etc.
There ya go
Not thinking about putting a clenched fist on ya door are you? Probably better off with a clenched butt
