Website Traffic
#1
Hi,
Running a small online business at the minute and was wondering what the best way to get traffic to my site that either costs nothing or very little. I see you can pay sites like google to advertise but it could work out quite pricey.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I did Google "adwords" for a couple of weeks and got alot more traffic on a work site. Can get expensive, but is worth it. Have 2 to 3 enquiries a day now.
Have you submitted the site to the search engines and got your meta tags sorted?

Hi Clare,
Yeah i have submitted my site to all the major search engines but unless you pay for 'premium' advantages it can take up to 6 months for them to put it on their engine apparently.
I have also looked at google adwords. Out of interest, how much traffic was you getting per day/month?
Thanks
Marc

We were only getting a couple of hits a day. Now averages about 40-50 hits which in turn creates the 2 or 3 enquiries. I know this should be more, but we are working on it!
I have my hosting with Titan Internet who give a very good statistics package all in. Try adwords for a week, you can disable the "campaign" at any time. You can set a maximum charge per day - we did £5. I disable it at weekends and concentrate then on spending the money during the week.
It's up to you. We have found it good, but depends what you're after. Email me if you want any more information.
